Do CBD Gummies Get You High?

Share if you care

It’s hard to resist the charm of CBD gummies. At this point, they’re everywhere. According to Consumer Reports, “an estimated 64 million Americans have tried CBD in the last 24 months” — and CBD gummies are among the most popular of all CBD products. The numbers speak for themselves and prove that CBD is becoming a commonplace supplement all over the country (and many parts of the world!). People are using CBD for sleep, pain management, stress relief, and other therapeutic benefits. The CBD market is growing exponentially and is expected to reach $20 billion by 2024. Numbers like this seem incomprehensible, but their vastness is matched by the wellness potential of products made with this remarkable cannabinoid.

As a result of CBD’s popularity, manufacturers have developed several different kinds of CBD products to meet our personal needs and preferences. This makes sense, because we’re all looking to get something different from our CBD experience. One of the main reasons people love CBD (and CBD gummies) is that it can give you a gentle calmness and feeling of well-being, but it doesn’t get you “high.” Instead, CBD produces therapeutic effects which can support several aspects of daily living.

CBD gummies have the advantage of being convenient and discrete enough to carry anywhere, ensuring you get your daily serving of CBD without a hitch. Gummies with CBD also taste great, which is a distinct advantage over some CBD tincture oils.

You may find that you have to take more gummies to achieve the desired effect compared to CBD tincture oils. CBD gummies may also take a little longer to start working as well.

So, with all of this in mind, let’s explore the world of CBD gummies and explain why CBD will not get you “high.”

Can You Get High From CBD?

CBD gummies start with the agricultural production of cannabis hemp. It’s important that we distinguish cannabis hemp from its infamous relative, cannabis marijuana. Hemp is the term used for cannabis plants with less than 0.3% THC, the chemical compound that gets you “high.” Marijuana refers to cannabis plants with more THC, sometimes upwards of 30% THC. So, rest assured, hemp-derived CBD cannot get you “high.” In fact, if your CBD product does make you feel “high,” it probably contains more than 0.3% THC — which means it isn’t a federally mandated hemp-derived product at all.

The hemp crops are carefully cultivated, preferably with organic farming techniques, and then the crops are harvested and prepped for the CBD oil extraction process. It’s during this part of the process that different types of CBD oil are created.

Different Types of CBD Oil

With full spectrum CBD oil, the hemp plant is crushed and the oil is extracted from the buds, leaves and stalks. All of the hemp plant’s cannabinoids are present in this type of oil, including CBD, CBG, CBN, terpenes, and trace amounts of THC — although less than 0.3%. So, even with the CBD oil with the highest concentration of THC, you still cannot get “high.”

Broad spectrum CBD oil goes through the same process with the addition of one extra step that pulls all trace amounts of THC from the oil. This is the recommended option for anyone who goes through routine drug screenings for school and/or work. (Even though the amount of THC in full spectrum CBD oil is incredibly low, no one wants a false positive drug test!) Though some of the minor cannabinoids and terpenes are also removed because of this extra process, broad spectrum CBD still retains a robust cannabinoid profile.

CBD isolate goes through an additional winterization process that extracts any remaining cannabinoids, waxes, and terpenes from the oil. This creates oil with up to 99% purity and is an excellent option for those who only want CBD, with none of the other compounds found in the cannabis hemp plant.

You can find CBD products with all three types of CBD oils discussed above. For CBD gummies, we use broad spectrum CBD because it still retains a good cannabinoid profile, which allows you to experience the famed Entourage Effect while removing all traceable remnants of THC (less than 0.1%). The Entourage Effect is a term used to describe the phenomenon in which multiple cannabinoids are consumed and, instead of working merely in parallel with one another, the cannabinoids actually bolster each other’s performance — making each cannabinoid (including CBD) work harder for you.

It’s also helpful to take note of how your CBD gummies get their flavoring and color. Some companies use heaps of artificial sweeteners and coloring agents, which can be harmful to your health. You’ll want to find a company utilizing all-natural sweeteners and coloring. This translates to an overall cleaner, more effective product.

And with no more than 0.3% THC, there’s no need to worry about any intoxicating effects from your CBD gummies. While it is possible to experience some drowsiness or muscle relaxation, you will not get “high.”

How Many CBD Gummies Should I Eat?

Settling on a serving size depends on your tolerance, metabolism, and the amount of CBD each gummy contains. The recommended serving size for our CBD gummies is 50mg or two gummies, though we recommend beginning with just one gummy to determine your tolerance.

Studies have shown you can take up to 1500mg of CBD a day without any side effects, but we wouldn’t recommend it.

How Often Can I Eat CBD Gummies?

CBD gummies are the perfect way to build your daily wellness routine. Some people take their full 50mg CBD gummy serving at the beginning of the day, while others stagger them: one CBD gummy in the morning and one in the evening.

Alternatively, you can take your CBD gummies in tandem with other long-lasting CBD products, like CBD tincture oils or CBD capsules

You’ll find your tolerance level based on your physiology, experience and comfort. Keep in mind this will continuously fluctuate as you build a tolerance.

The Best Time to Take CBD Gummies

Some people like to start their day with a CBD gummy or two, while others like to use them for sleep. Some people like to take their CBD gummies before tense or uncomfortable situations. Or, they use them for multiple reasons during the course of the day. It’s all up to you and what you’re looking to achieve.

Since CBD has a wide range of benefits, the possibilities are endless.

As you become more experienced with your CBD gummies, you’ll figure out what time of day meshes with your schedule and lifestyle.

In Conclusion: CBD Gummies and You

Experiment with CBD gummies to find your sweet spot. You’ll see how many you need to eat to achieve your wellness goals and the time of day that works best for you.

You won’t experience any psychoactive effects with CBD, because it contains less than 0.3% THC. CBDfx CBD gummies are all made with broad spectrum CBD, which means even the trace amounts found in full spectrum CBD oil have been removed.

Now, it’s up to you to enjoy the journey. We wish you all the best!
